Sarah Morrison

Sarah Morrison

I was born and bred in a small country town Paeroa (famously known for the L&P drink) in New Zealand.

I am self employed in the petrol industry with Gull NZ.  I have the most supportive family in the world, my awesome hubby (Steve) and 3 daughters (teenage/almost adult)

Having started athletics at the age of 3, I’ve always had a passion for health and fitness.  From Athletics to Cross Country Running, Netball, Basketball, Gym and Aerobics all before I found the love of cycling at the age of 18 with our local club.  I continued cycling through pregnancy and when our girls were young I was always on my indoor trainer 5am with a baby monitor beside me.  I found my competitive edge again at the age of 30, purely because Steve bought me a new bike for my 30th birthday with conditions attached, that I was to have a crack at NZ club champs. Having done so much training indoors or on my own Time Trailing was my thing, I loved it.  Gaining 5 NZ Club champ titles and several podium finishes, also competing in the Masters World TT Champs, Italy 2013, Australia 2016, France 2017 gaining silver each year.

Interesting facts about Sarah:

  • Stands 5’9” tall, and 64kg

  • I’ve never drunk coffee — I don’t like the smell

  • Caffeine must come from somewhere, I’ll never turn down chocolate

  • Broke front teeth in a cycling accident, repairs finished the day before I got married

  • Longest TT completed on a road bike: 130km, 3hr 51min

  • Favorite rides IRL: Alpe D’Huez & Mont Ventoux

  • Music: anything but rap

Ended up having a forced break from the sport for 6 months to recover from shoulder surgery, at this point I decided it was time for a change and went to triathlon 70.3 distance (because swimming was going to help with shoulder strength and mobility) this is still my focus today after qualifying for worlds at my first event, however still waiting for it to happen (bloody covid ☹)

I was introduced to Zwift racing April 2020, at that point I found my love of cycling indoors again.  Soon after joined the NZBRO team for a few TTT.  Then was given the opportunity to join the Saris/NoPinz Family.  Time Trialing is still my strength and my lacking top end is a work in progress along with sprinting.
