Matt Curbeau

Matt Curbeau

Matt Curbeau is a cyclist who prides himself in being competent in as many disciplines of the sport as possible. Some might call him a “Master of None”. Comfortable in anything from a downtown twilight criterium, to a 200 mile gravel odyssey or a 50 minute Zwift throw down.

It is with pride that he can assimilate himself into each scenario. While serviceable at these differing styles of racing it is the long distance events that Matt both loves and excels at. Currently targeting the likes of Dirty Kanza, Leadboat (2 day stage race consisting of Leadville 100 MTB and SBT GRVL on back to back days), unPAved and a host of other one day events in and around New England.

When not racing on the virtual roads of Zwift with the Indoor Specialists, Matt competes on the road with his Velocio Northeast Racing Team. An avid Zwift user since 2015, Matt sees the potential of the Zwift platform and likes to keep a finger on the pulse of the community. Matt enjoys the camaraderie of his Indoor Specialist teammates as they are the people that he most interacts with between the hours of 5-8am most every weekday from October thru March.

Interesting facts about Matt:

  • CPA who works for NormaTec Industries LP.

  • Spent the better part of his 20’s chasing the Triathlon dream in which he raced professionally, fell in love with cycling and became extremely mediocre at swimming. The last time Matt swam was on his honeymoon in Hawaii in September of 2016.

  • Matt among other talents was an All League kicker in his senior high school football season. He also started as a wide receiver and defensive back, yet the kicker piece is always the most fun to share.

  • Matt had a cup of coffee with his college baseball team. After playing one season Matt came to grasp with being a 5’8, 160lb non physical specimen. He quickly turned tail and went to London to study abroad during his Sophomore year of college.

“Back of the Card” Rider Stats:

  • 5’8 and anywhere between 150-155lb depending on how much he just ate and drank

  • FTP ranging from 330-350w depending on the time of year. And yes that is a 60 minute number people, not what you can do for 20.

  • Special Skills include suffering just long enough to not get dropped and sneaking on podiums with unremarkable numbers.
