Frequently Asked Questions

What are the rules?

  • You must race in the appropriate category for your FTP

  • You must be opted-in on Zwift.com & ZwiftPower.com to be counted for race results.

  • We highly encourage racers to follow Zwift eRacing Ruleset (dual recording power if possible)

  • Racers with current sanctions of any kind will be ineligible for results and standings.

  • Use of a Heart Rate Monitor is compulsory.

Are racers eligible for USA Cycling upgrade points through this series?

The results from this series and the races on Zwift will not count for upgrade points towards your USA Cycling license.

What is the series structure?

The races are compiled as a “League” on ZwiftPower.com. Each timezone is set up as a League, and your points week-to-week will be accumulated within that League.

How does scoring work?

The races will be scored by finishing order within each category. The first racer across the line will be awarded 35 points, the second racer will get 30, third will get 25, fourth will get 22, with points decreasing by 1 point through 25th place. Each and every racer will receive 1 point for participating.

Where can I find the standings?

The race results can be found after the race is completed at ZwiftPower.com under the “Leagues” menu (link to the Leagues can be found on our Events page). USA Cycling will maintain official results for USAC member participants only after verifying participants USAC license information in their database.

Which category should I race?

Zwift race categories are segmented each racer’s functional threshold power (FTP) divided by their body weight in kilograms. The value (W/kg) determines which category you should race in. For instance, if your FTP is 200W and you weigh 75kg, your 2.67 W/kg FTP lands you in the C category.

Can I race multiple Leagues?

Yes, but your points from one League will not carry over to another.

I’m not from the USA or a USAC member — can I race?

Yes! Participation in these events is open to all. However to be included in the USAC results, you need to be a USAC member and to include your USAC member number in your ZwiftPower name.

How do I get my USAC license number into my ZwiftPower name?

To be eligible for the official USAC results, you will need to do a few things. Most importantly, you will need to get your ZwiftPower account set up and connected to your Zwift account (info on how to do this here). Once your ZwiftPower account is set up and connected, you need to go into your account settings and add your USAC license number after your name. Note: You do not need to do this inside Zwift to show up during the race! Just on ZwiftPower.

How do the women’s and men’s races differ?

The women’s races will be listed as a completely separate event in the Zwift Companion app, beginning 5 minutes after the men’s race. The women’s events can only be entered by racers who have their gender as such on Zwift.

How long is the series?

The series will be 4 weeks long running from July 8th through July 29th. Your best 3 results will count towards your total score in your League, so you are able to miss two races, or you are able to drop your two lowest scores if you race all 4!

Are the races mass start?

No. The categories will be staggered in 1 minute intervals, beginning with the A category, then the B category begins 1 minute later, and C beginning 1 minute later, then D leaving the pens last. The women’s race will follow the same format starting 5 minutes after the men’s A category begins.

Will there be power-ups?

No. We have elected to disable the power-ups after consulting with our regular racers. While introducing a terrific gaming element, power-ups often are the difference maker in many race finishes and we want the fairest racing possible! There’s nothing worse than losing because you got the Burrito and everyone else got the Aero!

Which races will be covered by a broadcaster?

Zwift Community Live will be covering a race or two each week. Stay tuned to their Facebook, YouTube, or Twitch for all the action!
